Contracting a rash to/from a snake?

smurfskill Dec 03, 2003 11:53 PM

I have a red rashy type thing on my hands (I work at a vets office, I wash my hands at least 20 times a day, sometimes with dish soap, I think I irritated them) I know if it's an irritation, it probably couldn't spread, but if it is in fact a rash or infection, is it possible to contract it to my snake? Or, could I have gotten this rash from my snake?

I tend to break out in rashes at the drop of a hat, and I don't get any irritation even if a snake bites me and then musks the open wound. So I'd say it's possible but not likely. It's actually more likely that you're allergic to whatever you're using for bedding. The snake itself is pretty unlikely to catch anything, it takes a lot to get through those scales.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
