Ok, I just got off the phone witht the vet's office. First of all, they are so great!!! I talked to them about paying my bill (they normally have a "no charging" policy) and he said that I can pay a bit each week. They also are nice whenever I call and give me updates and seem genuinly concerned. That makes me feel a little better about everything.
Second of all, I read all of the posts to my "not good" post, and you guys are great!! It made me cry, but in a GOOD way (for once). Thankyou so much.
Ok, now the news... She was there last night. Today the vet forcefed her some food. She ate it and everything. She seems to be progressing slowly. thank goodness... Depending on how today goes she may be coming home tonight. i'm so glad I only work till four today!!!
Now, I need advice from those of you who have been where I am. What sorts of things should I be doing to keep her progressing?
I plan on putting her into her baby tank. For those of you who don't know it's just over 3' tall and its about a foot wide, and is hexagon shaped. i'm going to put damp paper towell on the bottom, and a pothos or something small in it so she can't go more than a foot up. Also, I'll have the humdifiers running (one is warm one cool - the cool one aides in circulation, so that's not a problem). i'll be keeping the temp up around 90-95, with a cool spot for her in the bottom. Any other advice (for feeding, drinking, temps or ANYTHING you can think of) would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thankyou so much!
~Lindsay

Keep the tank as clean and sanitary as possible without stressing her too bad. You don't want bacteria to grow if she just had a c-section. replace the paper towel regularly and between every couple replacements, if the bottom isn't being allowed to dry, wipe the bottom with a dituted bleach solution on another towl to disinfect it (might want to take her out briefly while you do this). Also make sure to disinfect the humidifiers more regularly. Good luck,
Chris

Good news! I'd make sure there is good air exchange too. You'll probably have to feed her a soft diet because the intestinal problem. There is a recipe for excellent support feeding posted on www.adcham.com. Look under "Bug Juice". It will be better than the Ensure-only many folks use. I do know of chams who survive after traumatic surgery like this. There is a quadricornis in the UK who had TWO c-sections and was finally spayed during the 2nd. She would be ancient now, but who knows...she was a tough little girl.

Lindsay,
I am so sorry to hear about Orion. I just saw the other update today because my computer crashed and I had to order a new one so I have been unable to get online for a couple of weeks now.
I hope she pulls through for you. How will you be feeding her?
Ask your vet about a product from Flukers called Repta-Aid I have used it with great success for feeding chams that can't eat on their own. I think Kim uses it for Zoe also. I am thinking about and praying for Orion. I know you love her very much!
