Hi all,

Well, I finally got my Filstar XP3 and set it up last night (what a job!). Anyway, just a couple questions...

First, does it matter if each compartment is not completely full? For example, the ceramic rings and carbon media are not fully packed to the top...only about half-way. Should I buy more to pack it fully?

Also, since the Filstar doesn't come with ceramic rings, I went to Petco lastnight and bought some. However, the ONLY ones they sold were Fluval's "pre-filter" ceramic rings. Are these basically the same thing as Filstar's Bio-Max?

Lastly, I have read different configurations for media arrangement & layering. I would greatly appreciate anyone's suggestions for what what works REALLY well in their tanks.

On a related note, I have 3 hatchling RES in a 29 gallon aquarium. Is a weekly water change necessary for hatchlings (since they are so small), or is that suggested for larger turtles. How often should I change the water for hatchlings when using a Filstar XP3?

Now, on an unrelated note, I have read SO MANY different suggestions for water temperature, everything from 70 to 85 degrees. Originally, the water was around 75 degrees, but they were constantly hanging onto the submersible heater, so I raised the water temp to about 82 degrees. They are no longer hanging onto the heater and seem to be very active (and they do bask out of the water too). So, for hatchlings, exactly what is the recommended water temp?

Thanks for all your help!
Ann
