The basics for ornates are a high quality fresh salad mix.
The very best green is turnip. You can also use mustard, collard, dandelien greens and very limited amounts of red or dark green leaf lettuce and romaine. These last three have a lot of water content but not much nutrition. Then you can add yellow squash, zucchini, sweet potatoe, frozen mixed veggies (thawed and chopped fine) the dry bean mix in a separate bowl and I throw in 1/2 of an apple to 2# of food once a week. The uros love flowers, so research your area for what is safe. Mine love pink hibiscus, they go wild when they see them. I had pink polish on my nails and they all thought it was hibiscus! Dust your mix with rep-cal or another high quality calcium and add herptivite or another source of vitamins. Everyone has their own idea of how often, too much is just as bad as not enough. A nutritious balanced diet is the best plan.
