i have question, i noticed that there are numbers besides some of y'all pets.. like 3.5 bearded dragon, 0.0.1 dog .. stuff like that .. what does the numbers means? i can guess that there are 3 bearded dragon or one dog .. but 3.5 ? or 1.0.0

i am considering a leopard gecko .. i am going to live in a dorm and they allow only fish turtles and lizard stuff like that .. and the tank can be no more than 20 gal .. that sucks cause i was thinking about bearded dragon ..

so i guess leopard gecko is my next choice .. i never had a lizard before .. i did a lot of reading on this subject..

The number thing was really confusing when I first started reading forums and such. But now that I understand it, it helps alot. It stands for the sex of the animal. And if you add them together that's how many of that species of animal that the individual takes care of (not really owns, because it's more like they own us, ).

Male . Female . Unsexable

Unsexable is for the reptiles that you take care of that are too terribly small to judge the sex. As in if they are like 2 weeks old, you can't tell the sex.

Example:

1.2.6
1 male, 2 females, 6 Unsexed

3.8.4
3 males, 8 females, 4 unsexed

Hope that helps.

it's not stupid i asked it before! hehe

1.2.3 means: 1 male, 2 females, 3 unsexed.

and for your dorm - you can keep 1.3 (1 male, 1 female) in a 20 gal (so i hear)... or you can get a crested gecko in a 20gal tall. if you want a small one, i heard leos can live their lives in a 10gal long.

wow my college wouldn't allow any lizards only fish. but we could have up to a 55 gallon in a dorm. i kept 3 leos anyway lol.

Yes, there are limits. But, do they really check? When I was in college I was allowed 1, 10 gallon tank. I got into bettas, however, and pretty soon I had 2 gallon tanks on every available surface (this was in addition to the 10gal)
