Got Milk?

fourfeathers Dec 04, 2003 02:49 PM

Please direct me to a reputable breeder of Milks that doesn't price gouge.

I'm just wanting something simple to start off with that is easily handled without much of a fuss, good colors and a decent price.

I'm not worried about any particular hard to find sought after $2500 morph. Just something around a hundred bucks. To me, that's a lot of money right now.

A local pet store has a Honduran Tangerine Milk for $159 that I've got him talked down to $130. But the snake looks like it overextended his jaw at one time and it doesn't completely. Sounds kinda high although it handles VERY well.

Gimme some advise or direction please.

Marcus

I purchased my honduran tangerine dream from a breeder at a reptile expo/sale in Tucson, Az. His e-mail is Serpensauria@comcast.net
I paid $80 for him. $150 bucks sounds high. Mine is just a baby, hatched July 2003, but has calmed down alot with regular handling about 4-5 times a week. Be careful buying from reptile/pet stores. I bought a jungle carpet python at a local store and after a week to ten day noticed she had mites. I love her and have no intentions of returing her. I didn't notice them when I was looking at her at the store.
Buying from a breeder is much better since most breeders keep record cards that tell you the hatch date, feeding, sheding, etc.
It may mean you have to wait till a show comes to your area but you may be happier in the long run. Enjoy!

You can pick up a normal hondurian tri color if you look for 45-50 in the classifieds and a tangerine honduran for $65, but shipping will probably run around $30. So this should still be around your 100 limit. You might want to look around at more pet stores if you can. I can pick up a 03 tangerine hondurian to 65 at the pet store and not pay for shipping.

good luck

You ought to able to find any number of Mexican Milksnakes or Sinaloan Milksnakes for under $45 on the classifieds or from dealers. They are the best choices for a first milksnake and you should be able to get one delivered to your door for under $75.

High Sierra Reptiles. They don't call Shannon Brown the Milk Man for nothing. If I am not mistaken he basically has them all and his reputation is outstanding, check out his site in Kingsnake.coms breeder section. Tom

I received some outstanding annulata from Jim Sargent. I will definitely be doing business with him again. His business is called "Split Rock Reptiles" and he has a website.
All the best,
Perry
