Hi all,

I've had Peanut for about a year now and haven't had this problem before. Usually feed her crickets and, every so often, mealworms. However for the past 2 or 3 weeks, she has completely ignored any crickets I put in her enclosure [15 gal tank]. If I offer her a mealworm she snaps that up immediately. I've read that crickets are much better nutritionally but don't know what to do. Do I w/hold mealworms completely and keep trying crickets until she decides to eat them or starve or do I "cave in" and offer her mealworms?

mealworms are just fine to feed as long as they are gut loaded all i feed are mealworms and super worms. my gex are doin great to. imo.

i don't think you should be too worried. mealworms are an excellent staple diet for leos and are very nutritious if they are provided a healthy gutload and water source for 24-48 hours prior to being fed. also, i've heard that crix have a higher risk of carrying toxins, as well as build up toxins if their corn-based foods get damp in a humid area.

if your leo still doesn't go back to crix, she probably just changed her preference and likes them better. it's important that you don't w/hold foods from your leo or starve them because it can effect their health... although it won't greatly effect them the first couple days... they'll go nuts with food when you start feeding again, but still might not even want crickets

are crickets easier for you to feed than mealworms?
