I figured that was close to the price for a large lot, since 10 lots can be had for $250.
Investment wise, don't let that scare you. One thing you have to remember is that those $13 geckos aren't necessarily going to be nice looking ones. If you're producing good looking Cresteds, you're still going to get a decent amount of money for them. A prime example is Leopard Geckos...sure, normals wholesale for $4.50 each, but people are still paying hundreds of dollars per animal for the latest and greatest morphs (i.e. Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tails). Another example, albeit a bit further off the mark, is Ball Pythons...there are $5 Ball Pythons and there are $75,000 Ball Pythons.
>>I was looking into just getting into cresteds and selling my other geckos, (Leo's, fats, and teratolepis). I called a BIG (I won't name names so please don't ask) breeder of cresteds to see how many I could get. To make the wholesale order, you must spend $2000, and for that amount I would have gotten 180 baby cresteds. That was all it took to change my mind, I still keep 1.3 because they are very rewarding to keep, but at the same time this proves the market has already crashed!! It's kind of like beardies in the late 90's, maybe the same thing will happen, and people will slowly get out of them bringing the market back for a couple of years, but I doubt it highly, as they are VERY easy to keep!
