new to forum,gravid female question

i have a female het that i'm 99% sure is gravid but for some reason she is not using her basking area at all,she's got a nice lump in her but every time i check her temp it's 81 to 82,my other gravid female stays about 86 to 87.anyone have any idea whats going on.It's pretty cool to finally get to write to this forum,i read it quite a bit but have never wrote,hpefully i'll get to post more often.

From your post it sounds like you are using a lamp for a source of heat. If that is so maybe you need to use a heat mat or pad. The heat from the light may be to hot for her back or she is shy and does not like bright lights. Another thing is she may not be gravid, did you notice ovulation? if so when was her POS? I noticed last year that my females laid on the heat pads more the last 45 days. Good luck

I use heat panels for ambient temps,and under tank 11in x 17in under tank heat pads in neodesha cages,thanks for reply

Last season, my gravid Suri very rarly used the hot spot. She always stayed in heat conservation as far away as possible from the heat. Her daytime body temp was always 82 - 83 degrees. She ended up with 19 22" - 23" babies, no slugs or stilborns. I guess it just shows that they are all individuals.

she does stay in the conservation mode.
