Brumating and sexing.

I have a friend whose blue tongue skink is not eating and seems much more lethargic than usual. I keep bearded dragons and they usually brumate at this time of year and I'm wondering if BTS do the same. Last time I spoke to him he said he was taking it to the vet which seems a good idea to me especially since its had quite a few health problems in the past.
Also, I have an oscellated skink and would like to breed them but I don't know if its male or female. I found a website that said the males have more obvious eye patterns and the females have less obvious patterns but then I found a site that said exactly the oppsite. If anyone can tell me which one is right or tell me another way to tell the difference I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
