Newbie Question....in addition to yesterdays post

PEACHES123 Dec 05, 2003 06:11 AM

yesterdays post i asked about how long it could take leos to settle down and eat in their new home. I had written that they didnt touch the crix and that id leave the mealies in the dish over night. I was able to feed one mealie to one of my leos with forceps and this morning all the mealies remain in the dish. Should I try again tonight or wait until tomorrow? This is their third day here. I have 2 other leos that are two years old....youd think Id remember what to do!

hehe that's cool for the baby leos... if they'll eat the first one, keep feeding them til they're too full - and while you're holding the mealies with forceps, try and show them the dish with it so they know where to go. one of the things i tried was leaning the dish so my leo was able to see the wriggling worms inside. she did her robotic movements closer to them and put her hand on the top side of the dish. i leaned it back and set it down, so she put both hands on top and stared down at them. and then she stoke at each one and gobbled them up - accidentally taking 2 at a time as well. good luck on trying to get your babies to eat - i hope one of these works for you!

I put them in a glass ashtray in front of their hide. Only one has been brave enough to venture out at nighttime and she was walking thru the ashtray on top of the worms...shed even look at them but wasnt interested. What is a "normal" amount of time it could take to get them eating.
