Is High Intensity Lighting Overkill??

devious_froggy Dec 05, 2003 09:08 PM

last weekend we were at a LFS that was having their 2 year anneversery and we won a high intensity lighting system. (YAY!!) im not sure yet of the wattage, or anything, but he said its the kind used to grow all sorts of coral. could i use it in place of my current viv. light? or would it be too much light, is it possible to have too much light??? my current plants are pothos and a few assorted orchids.

~I cant thank you guys enough for all the help!!

Hey,

Im guessing its metal halide, or other VHO (compact flourescents) lights as thats what are used to grow corals.

You should try researching and comparing your lights, and tell us what it is exactly. Some give off a TON of heat. Try checking hellolights.com and see what you got! (your system is most likely EXPENSIVE, nice find).

Good luck,
M.N
