No, corns do not need to soak on a regular basis. The only time they would need to soak is when they are having a bad shed, and then you would probably have to put them into a soaking container. If a corn is soaking on a regular basis, then you need to check it for problems, such as mites or too high temperatures that the snake is trying to get away from.

It is entirely possible to get a bad pinky. Perhaps the pet shop kept their mice on cedar or pine or had no pest strips in the cages, that would definitely affect your snake. Or perhaps the pinky is too old, if you are talking about frozen. Or perhaps you refroze the pinky after it was out of the freezer too long. I would not recommend refreezing food items, by the way, but some people do it.

Pictures on the outside of your tank should not affect the snake at all. Perhaps if there was a picture of a predator on there, MAYBE the snake MIGHT notice it, but if you are talking about scenic pictures, enjoy the view. I think that the snake enjoys having the privacy more than the actual pictures, as being in a big glass house can make anyone nervous.

Hope some of this helps. It is just my opinion.

Corns do not neccessarily NEED to soak on a regular basis but you should always have a water dish large enough for the snake to soak in, if it so desires. They just sometimes like to soak, it can also help in sheding and it can help maintain a decent humidty level in the enclosure. They can also use it to help thermoregulate if temperatures do get a little high on the warm end of the enclosure.
I have one that prefers to defecate in her water. So, at least once a week she is in her water dish. Sick snake? NO. Bad shed? NO. Snake that is perfectly healthy but likes to defecate in her water? Yes.
Just get a water dish that also serves as a hide. This way you won't actually be losing any tank space and the snake has enough water for drink ,play or thermoregulation.

some of my young ones soak, some don't. I think it's good to give them a space big enough to soak if they want to. If they don't want to, they wont.

Is it in a glass tank? If so, pictures might not be a bad idea, since I have only one snake who seems to know she can't go through the glass. Maybe pictures would keep them from pushing on the glass? Or maybe it'll do nothing except look pretty to you, but I doubt it will bother the snake at all...Unless maybe it's a picture of a bigger snake

I'm sure you can get a "bad mouse", though I don't think I ever have. If your using frozen/thawed, chances are anything that could make the snake sick is killed off in the freezer. But if your feeding live or fresh killed, they can carry parasites, so you have to be sure your getting healthy mice. In the past year I've gotten several hundred mice from Rodent Pro and they've all been "good mice", so if you want to be safe...you could use them for your mice supplier. There are some other good rodent suppliers online as well, I won't go the pet shop route again, I did get a couple pretty icky looking pinks from a local shop, and even though they worked for the snakes, they looked too bad to me and I won't buy mice there again.
