the lamp

How many hours do i leave the lamp burning?
Im letting it burn 12 hours right now....

well brazilians are more nocturnal snakes so they tend not to be out that much,so you really only have to think about keeping a lamp on for heat purposes,i use a red bulb i usually keep it on most of the night(it being winter time and all).so you have to think about were you live and how cold it gets...

Im using a 100 watt lamp for daytime so the red lamp should be at around 80 watt

Mine don't even come out much in the daylight, snakes don't actually need a light, but I think all animals can benefit from a day night cycle. I would just use the light occasionally, because it might be too bright (as others have suggested), and raise temps, decrease humidity too much. Mine only get a light cycle from the room lights I use.

You can also use a in cage thermastat that automatically turns the light on/off when it needs to be for temperature purposes.
