Best leaf tail for a beginner?

Bammer Dec 06, 2003 10:50 AM

I have been deciding between the Uroplatus and the Phelsumas for some time now... The both appeal to me in two differnt ways.
The leaf tails appeal to my darker side, while the day geckos appeal to the lighter side. I think this maybe the reason I have Amazon Tree boas and then Taiwan Beauty Rat Snakes.

Anyway, If I were to choose the Uroplatus, which is the best species to start off with? If I could, a dark red satanic would be my choice. Yet, I read they are a little difficult to care for. That is not a problem, I just want to start off with something alittle easier till I get used to the way they live.

Also, Whatever gecko I get(might get a pair of both if I can) will be living in a really naturalistic type setting. Perferably a 20gallon high. I would prefer a pair also to live in it. Whatever though. Thanks in advanve.

The very best starter Uroplatus is definitely CB U.henkeli as they are more tolernat of temp levels and are easier in general. U. phantasticus are among the trickiest.
