One of my beardies has the poops......msg

cozmo Dec 06, 2003 12:45 PM

I have recently changed foods, from salads and crickets, to salads and Bearded Dragon bites. The room has been drafty lately as well due to the storm here in the northeast. Now, I know that with my dogs, if I make a drastic change with thier food that they get the poops, can that happen with beardeds as well?

Sure. Any changes in diet can cause the runs. Same things that can happen and effect our stomachs can happen to other animals, and can happen to dragons as well. Might actually just be the increase in moisture content his diet has now with the bearded dragon bites, if I'm thinking of the correct soft & moist cubed dragon food. Might take some time for him to get used to this drastically changed diet. Some people use the dry pellets like repti-cal or zoomed without any troubles. Most likely it is the combo of the new diet, and the added moisture of the pellets with the mixed greens. They both have high moisture contents. I would watch for this, and if it does not get better and continues a fecal check by the vet would be a good idea as parasites can cause the stomach problems too.
