Are you attached to them??? Because there is a good chance that your RES will eat them. Especially if you like them. I have put almost 20 Rosey Reds in my tank with Red, my RES and ate a few but now I have like 12 and they are laying eggs. But I put a 2 dollar pleco in there he will eat it in a heartbeat. So if you want to keep them as pets I say no but if you want them to be feeders go ahead. Take care Shannon

Greetings,

How big is your RES? Mine is still about 1.5" so the rosys I put in my tank are to big for the turtle to eat. I do think they help eat the extra food that may be floating around.

He is about 3 1/2 to 4 inches. When I got him he as about 2 inches and he ate them readily. Believe they eat a big fish. I was like that is no way he could eat that fish but he does. That tear it up with the claws as the chomp on it. Take care Shannon
