Please help.

Hi.

I keep my Cerastes vipera in a terrarium that is 39*17*17 (inch)
with sand and two hiding places. On the hot side I have 93 °F and on the cool side about 78°F

Mine are recently wild caught and they havent eaten mice by themself yet. So if you have access to small geckos, I think they are preferred.

About their toxicity.. It's a small snake, but it have caused deaths if im not mistaken. If you send me an e-mail I could mail you an article about their venom, and one case where a 3yo kid got bitten..
Hope this is to some help, even though my english is far from flawless

Regards.

Hello,
I bought them in a store in Rotterdam. They sold it to me as saw scaled vipers. With a scientific name that couldn't be found in any books. They soled more snakes that were kept in too small a cage, they looked very bad. They had cobra's, mamba's, different species of Bitis and some echis. But all in very bad shape.

Idalgo's? Yeah I know, I've been there last saturday just out of curiosity, I saw them too.

Wrong latin names on cages, dead mammals everywhere, Black mamba's whit huge wound in the neck aerea due to cathing them with straps...

4 (or 5 or 6, couln't count them ) Huge Bitis gebonica which looked like they were run over by a leopard-tank...

Did you notice the lights in the mamba enclosure weren't on? Probably think they can't handle a warm mamba...

Worst of all is that this is just "your regular petstore" (besides the raccoons, porcupines and egyptian cobra's beeing sold..)

There was nothing on the door stating that there are dangerousanimals in there, there werent't even locks on most of the cages!! There were little children running around in the store, no closed aerea for the hots, just plain in sight.

We (We were there with some members of the Dutch Venomous Snake Society) were absolutely shocked.

I think it's amazing that there haven't been any accidents there yet...

Just my opinion though, what do you think of that store?

Cheers
Peter
