I found the snake last month in South Texas. He looked like any other bullsnake until he started hissing and inflating his body. Then I could see the reddish pink skin between his scales. I took a few pics and helped him off the road so I could see him again someday.

Looks red to me but time will tell the full story. Isn't that the one captured this fall in TX?

South Texas, yes....captured, no. He was basking on the side of the road last month and before I scooted him off, he decided to pose a little for me. Snapped a few shots and sent him on his way. In the two trips down that way, I found 6 bullsnakes. Sadly, only half were alive and the other half didn't make it across the road...including a 70 " monster.

Your website is great, I really enjoyed the pictures of various snakes in their natural habitat, and the information on your field experiences with each species. Thanks for sharing.
