Mating Behaviors

I introduced my male to a female today for the first time. Both caught a quick sniff of each other, then began their vigorous tail motion side to side. The male walked forward while the female acted like she was reaching to bite him. I removed the male immediately in fear that their might be a battle. I don't understand the whole situation and needed to see if someone else could give me a hand at interpreting the event. My male has been kept with a female for the last two months but I have never even noticed him with the tail movement towards her. Could this be in part because he is blizzard and she is high yellow leopard gecko? Any advice/tips for breeding is greatly appreciated. I was just wanting to get them accustomed to each other before I try to breed them in early January.

You mean that they both shook tails at each other? Are you sure that's a female you have there? That sounds like the behavior males undergo when they meet each other. A male will shake his tail at another leo, and if it's female, she won't respond. If it's a male, he will answer back, and a fight will ensue. I think.
