Hi all,
I just had a couple of Q's reguarding my Epytian Uro, Tenia. She's about a year old (at least that's what the guy at the store said) and about 8" long. I found out after the fact that she was wild caught
(I didn't know that when I bought her, I thought that was illeagal and not allowed anymore). I've never owned anything that was wild before (my past herp experiance is a common green iguana, and a bearded dragon). Tenia doesn't bite all or anything, she justs seems very afraid of me and isn't a big fan of being handled. That maybe in part to the fact that she has SO much energy
I've had her for almost five months now, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help her get used to me. I try to handle her a little everyday or every other day. She'll accept food from me w/o hesitation, and doesn't like her body being pet. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Do you think she'll grow out of this?
The other question I have is in reguards to brumination. It's most definetly winter here in MN, where I live and although the temp. in Tenia's cage hasn't changed, she seems to be semi bruminating. She'll sleep like the dead for 3 or 4 days and then wake up and run around for a day, day and a half and then go back to sleep. Is this normal bruminating for a Uro? My other lizards used to just sleep w/o the waking up.
Any thoughts would be apreciated, Thanks.
