introducing another alligator lizard.

rayna Jun 02, 2003 02:29 PM

a few months ago i caught a northern (maybe northwestern) alligator lizard at my sisters house and have since set it up in a nice aquarium with everything it needs. it eats well, has gained some weight and seems generally healthy and happy. today my sister brought another alligator lizard that she caught. i'm wondering if it is safe to introduce the two of them? will they fight? i don't really want to have two seperate aquariums for them, but i also don't want them to fight each other. if they are opposite sex, will they mate and lay eggs? i've read that when they mate the male clutches onto the female and it can seem sort of violent. how will i know if they are mating or fighting?

thanks for any suggestions!

Doesn't matter what gender, do expect some clashes. I've seen female to female fights. Don't bother asking about males, especially when it comes to feeding. But its occasional, most of the time they'll sleep under the same rock.
