Baby Superworms Finally!

lindsaymarie Jun 02, 2003 02:33 PM

I have had superworm beetles in a rubbermaid container since the second week or so in April and finally today I saw a couple tiny superworms. I am going to move the remaining 5 or 6 beetles into another container but I have a feeling that they have been feeding on the baby supers for a while now. I went looking threw most of the oats and only saw about 2 dozen babies, but maybe there are some I cant see yet and still have to hatch? Who knows! Just wanted to let everyone know it worked. Take care Lindsay

ps. I just wanted to see if I could do it and I did I doubt though that I will continue to do it as it is a lot of work and I would rather go with more nutritious feeders like roaches. But it was a good experience!

Way to go!! I was the same way. It was good to breed them, but what a pain in the rear. Can you post any pictures of your beardies?

Here are some pictures. Be patient, while loading

This is Taz (male). He is a Redflame/Sandfire x Sandfire Yellow.

This is Sydney (female). She is a Redflame x Sandfire Red.

This is Dashe (male). He is a RedGold x Snow cross.

This is Daisy (female). She is a Sandfire Orange x RedGold/Snow cross. She is Dashe and Ariels baby. Ariel passed away in March 2003.

This is Fiesty (female). She is a Sandfire Orange x RedGold/Snow cross as well. From the same clutch as Daisy.

This is Rascal (male). He is a RedGold.

These are 3 of 19 babies from Syd and Rascals first clutch. They are Redflame/Sandfire Red x RedGold's. She also laid a second clutch which is due to hatch any day now.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures Take care, LindsayMarie

Last night I walked into my room to see the biggest spider making its way towards me. I flipped on the lights to see a Superworm Beetle! There were lots of @%&*'ing, and then I scooped up all the beetles and put them back where they belonged. Something fell into the container and those guys just waltzed on out. Anyways, after I put them back i figured, what the heck Ill check for babies. YES! I've got superworm babiesssssssssssssssssssssss! Only Ill continue to do this, I need to save myself some money.
