how to make tank look better?

savigeckolvr Dec 06, 2003 09:48 PM

I got my gecko in sept. and have it in a 10 gallon with paper towels as the substrate, UTH and 60W standard bulb (on during day). It has only a calcium/food dish, water dish, humid hide, and regular log type hide. I want to get a 20 gallon long and make it look more natural. Any suggestions? I don't want to use any type of sand, but what about those pellet type things? I think theyre made of alfalfa. They look too big to be risk of impaction, but I wanted to get some opinions first to be sure. I want to make the tank look as natural as possible thanks

Hey

When you get your new tank or whatever go to home depot or a store like that and find some dark colored slate or tiles that arent cold to the touch and make sure there thin so that your uth can put heat through them. get like rock slab and make crevests make the stirty so your gecko wont get hurt and get some fake plants.

Hope that helps

Oh thanks sounds like a great idea, and no risk of impaction Just what I was looking for something safe but more attractive. Do you put pieces of tile or slate and make them fit together or get a large piece to cover the entire floor? I don't know if I could find something that large, so how would you go about putting it in the tank?
