Payment Plans?

4runner Dec 06, 2003 10:19 PM

I'm interested in purchasing some morphs next spring and was wondering if anyone has purchased ball pythons through a payment plan? How do these work? Lets say that I want to buy an albino for $2500 and can spare $200 a month (paying it off fully within a year). Is there a credit background check? Contract to be signed? I wouldn't like to wait the whole year before I see my purchase, but I know breeders need to protect themselves. Also what can I do to protect myself if I go through with a payment plan?

If any hobbyists have purchased through a payment plan can reply, I would be greatly appreciative. If any breeders would like to respond either publicly or privately their payment plans to me, you might have a potential customer.

Thanks,
Mark

I know 100% that ralph davis can do payment plans. I dont think there is a set standard, you just pay what you can unti you pay it off. The catch is, if he discontinue payment (you dont want the snake anymore) theres no refunds and he keeps your cash do reduce deadbeats.

I saw a add in the classifieds a few months back about someone offering payments plans for animals and potential animals they have and will be offering. I myself have never used this system but if you run across a breeder willing to take payments over a year it might not be that bad of an idea. One disadvantage I see to this system is the breeder holding your animal for that years time. Hopefully he will care for it like he was raising it to be his own. I am not saying there are people out there that wouldnt give any such care, but I do know I can get MY animals to grow pretty fast in my care. Like my Cinnamon Pastel and my Spider were both bought at the Daytona show and they are both wieghing in over 600 grams already.. Just something for you to also think about.

I myself have purchased about six snakes through three different breeders by payment plans. They all worked out great for me. The snakes are doing great as well. You just have talk with the people that you wish to buy from and work out some kind of deal with them. Like some money down then so much every month. It can't hurt to ask, because many of the bigger breeders realize that not every one can drop say 2 to 5 thousand dollars on a snake. Just make sure that you go through with the deal or you will loose your money.

I know Rick at the Ball Botique does payment plans. With a deposit he will hold the animal for up to 6 months. Check him out too.

We will work with you on Payment plans 3 months, 6 months or a year (depending on the cost of the animal) with a 20% non-refundable downpayment. We have you sign a contract with us to get the details of the payments on paper, and hold the animal and treat it just as we would our own animals while caring for it. We will even feed the animal your prefered method live/frozen rats or mice. We have worked this arrangement out with quite a few people and have never had good success so far.

Is that a typo? Or are you serious in saying it doesn't usually work out?

I was on a payment plan with Camlon for a short time and all went very well. At least I thought so!

Thanks Camlon Reptiles,
