if your really trying to get a ligthing effect and not trying to be a smart@$$.....set up 3 types of light. Blend those together to manipulate shadows....highlight the areas with the light you want show. There should be a contrasting type thing going on with the shadowed areas and lighted areas. If your trying to get a snake to look brighter...put it on a different backround.
.......yep.....nice ball.........
as said.....just use flash....no flash......Vita-Lites.......etc......sunligt on a good day........
albino and all redeyed snakes I use NO flash......just under worn out vita-lites...........they turn out better with no red eye.......

He just proved my pointwith his own pictures! I hated to even put the one in the 4th pisc in the box because she was so nice! I'm done posting about him on the forum since he proved my case. Case closed.
Hey those are nice looking animals, especially the 4th one of the bullseye. Where did you get them from and how much did you pay? LOL
Robert, not sure how to take this message but I think you are just trying to be a smart ass, well you got half of it right anyway, the second part. He didn't like the pictues I took of the $33 snakes he bought from me . The reasom I became defensive was what you are insunuating ande what you are trying to imply now in that the pictures were "doctored". Number one, I put them under a grow light and snapped the pics. I use a Sony mavica and thats what came out. I've seen better and I've seen worse pics. If my pics were sooo bad, why did you post them on the photo gallery and this forum asking people "do you like my snakes? Secondly, why would I "doctor pics of $33 animals? Especially rat feeding females in the 200gram range? The pics were to show markings, period. Thirdly, my interest in what people are using for lighting is to be able to capture the animals "true color" for my own purposes and my records and to be able to give my customer a good idea of what they are getting, especially when it comes to pastels. You can send all the personal attacks that you want Robert, but the truth of the matter is that I've been around for over 30 years doing this and take pride in making my customers happy. Anyone who is anyone in this buisness won't last long without retroactive sales, thats why I'm still here! Bill Lubak
morphcity, why complain on the board? theres no point. your just making an @$$ out of your self complaining on here. Keep it in the emails. and quit being a cry baby.
I got a nice snake that I paid a hefty price for, based on a Pic sent to me by a "big" breeder/importer. The pic made the animal look neon yellow, just spectacular. When I got the animal, she was basically orange, no sulpher yellow at all. I was unable to reproduce the pic that I was sent, MY pics were a very good representation of the way the animal really looked. BEFORE I bought the animal, I asked if the photos were legitmate pics of how the animal really looked, and the seller got all defensive. I bought the animal, and was very dissapointed with the way she looked COMPARED to the pics he provided. The animal is nice, but would not have spent the money on it if I received the pics that I took.
Dave
My point is, the pics sent should be a TRUE representation of the animal, and the buyers pics should be similar to the sellers pics,,,,if not, there should be a good reason why, ie, better camera etc. Here is a pic of the animal in question for me, not a great pic, but ALL the pics, even in perfect light etc look orange, NOT neon yellow!

they were talking about a 33$ snake...a normal. not a "hefty priced snake"
Let me paraphrase from my previous post, just in case you missed it: Pics should be a fair representation of the animal in question. Using your logic, from your reply, because an animal is cheap, you can use pics that do not look ANYTHING like the aniaml? I do not agree. The pics a seller sends should look like the animal, period! No better, no worse. A person should not have to open a box and think they got sent the wrong snake, just because of "lights", vita lights or otherwise.
Dave
same snake with different lights is not misrepresentation...after all its the same snake is it not?
Lights? Ok, if I took a pic of an albino ball, under a green light, and it made it look really cool, someone bought it BECAUSE of the way it looked in my pic, is that not wrong? Bottom line, if a pic taken by the seller does not look like the ball in person, that is wrong, plain and simple! A pic on an ad should convey a reasonable likeness to the animal in person.
