Some of you have watched this girl grow up. I first posted pictures of her in 1999, when she was about a year old. Well, she's a mother! I bred her to a rather average blonde male, nothing special. She wouldn't ovulate, so I finally gave up in late July and pulled the male. Three weeks later she ovulated. I expected slugs, but as the "due date" grew nearer I became hopeful. Then one week before she was due I heard a big front was moving in. Sure enough, she dropped them early when it passed through. One of the ones that was born with one of those little rubbery white placentas attached seem to be okay, but after a couple of weeks its belly was still big, didn't digest the yolk, and it died. Heartbreaking because this thing had no saddles. Only 20 perfectly spaced dots and a few tail bands. Oh well, some of the other babies are pretty hot, and next year I'll pair her with a better male. At least we know the pattern is genetic. Does this make me a morpher?
