New Owner Response

I had a feeding dish because people said that it is better to feed them in a seperate area, but Oregano does not like this so no more dish. I do have a question though, I bought some plants to put in there and I guess there was a baby snail in one of them and now the snail has attached itself to the glass. Is this ok with my turtle or should I take it out? Also Oregano really likes the plants and I see him chomping on them all the time, can he get too much??
Thanks

Your turtle can't eat too many plants, it's like salad. A lot of people keep them in their tanks for the turtles to munch on. Your turtle might also decide to eat that snail, which is fine. If it doesn't get eaten, you could end up with A LOT of little snails. Check out the thread below about snails.

Are you using another container or just a dish? Sliders have to be IN THE WATER to eat - they cannot eat outside of the water. Try something like a large dish pan or kitty litter pan for feeding outside of the regular enclosure.

As for snails, I avoid them, because of the risk of flukes, which can be transmitted by eating snails.

It's good that your slider is so interested in greens.
