My new baby Ball/Regal Python.

Felkon Jun 02, 2003 03:02 PM

I just picked him/her up a few hours ago, I'm no expert but I think the exterior heat pad, bedding, branch, waterdish, and little rock cavern will be quite good for him for atleast a year or so. I don't know why they say Ball pythons are bad climbers, he looooves to climb that stick and loves to sit up on top of the aquarium lid lining. Now all I need to do is keep the digital camera super-still so the pictures won't blur! >_

Oops the picture didnt show up for some reason...

I've heard baby pythons are supposed to be fatter is that true?

Who says they aren't good climbers? I have an adult ball and he's costantly climbing up and down his tank.
Good luck with ur ball, that setup should last it a year for sure!

firstly, ROYAL python, not REGAL python. Secondly, ball pythons are not arboreal (tree climbers) but if given the opportunity, they will all show a love of being above the ground.

Hmm well my Ball Python book says they are also known as the 'Regal Python' so does that mean my book is wrong? Oh well.. And yeah I figured they werent arboreal snakes... Thanks anyway though! Now I just need a name for it... Pepper or Montey?

coldbloodedvic Jun 03, 2003 03:14 PM

Definitely NOT Monty (or Montey).....alot of Montys out there, I'm sure.

I agree - Not Monty! I have two neighbors with BPs named Monty! Pepper sounds very nice. I tend like names that challenge what people think of most snakes. [Fluffy, or Fido ]

Although, my little girl python is Abigail. My coworker summed it up best, "A nice, sit down to tea, girl's name". Not like your average snake!
