Went to the Lititz show yesterday, it was a bust with the weather, and most of the vendors were desperate to break even.We have been looking to get a pair of dumerils or argentines but ended up bringing home a pair of columbians. The male is really light, but they are basically just normal boas. The male is about 3 foot or so, not really that bulky. We would like him to get large, but I'm not sure powerfeeding is good for them. How often should I feed him?The gentleman who sold him says he's eating f/t small rats once a week. The unsexed boa, the man who sold her, pooped her to sex her, but I'm not sure her was accurate, but for the sake of it, I will call her the female. She's at about 2 and a half ft, quite a cutie but really dark, looks like a mexican to me, from the different boas I've looked at.We have their day temp at 86 with a 89-91 degree basking and night temp at 78.It's not perfect yet but those temps stayed pretty consistent. So far the cage is very basic, just hides and water bowl.I'm letting them settle in before adding cage furniture. These are our first boas, I like monitors, and have always had a fear of snakes,my fiance loves them, and I heard red tails normally grow into very handleable adults with the proper attention.Don't get me wrong, I'm not scared to hold or touch or anything like that, it's just gonna be hard to be completely calm for a while.Anyways enough blabbing
Any advice on how often to feed, and if our temps are adequate for these guys?
