Hi my leo spends alot of his time in his warm hide, its a black sandwich box. Shouldn't he move around a bit more to thrmoregulate or does he stay in there because it's his favourite hiding place??? Thanks Gilbery007

About half of mine have a favorite hide, mostly the one on the warm side. Some spend most of their time in the moist hide whether they're shedding or not.

For the first few days especially many seem to try and disappear. They may move around at night when no one's around though. The warm hide could be his favorite because its black and so darker (feels safer) inside. From your previous posts I'm pretty sure you have the temp on the warm side right (88-90f) so he should be ok even if he stays there for days.

Is he eating? If you're feeding mealworms, count how many go in and check the following day to see if any are gone.

As long as he's eating ... and some adults eat every second or third day ... then give him a week or, better yet, two to settle in. Then you can start getting him used to being handled etc.

i replied to your other msg about your new leo a few posts down this forum... congrats! i also said that leos seem to like their warm hide the most if all the temps are fine. my leo has a favorite "spot" behind her humid hide. she just LOVES to stretch out behind it and sleep don't forget to check my message and post some pix up! take care and congratulations
