males call, females don't. During breeding season males get a dark colored pad on thier front feet.
females 'call' aswell, they can make a release call if grabbed tightly, this is a defensive mechanism to make a predator suddenly drop the frog. they can also make a reply call after they have heard males croak.
females calls sound more like a screach, while when males call to attract a mate is more like a crawk ....crawk...crawk...crawk.. etc
males will also devolop a dark rough patch on the base of their thumbs called nupital pads, this is used for grasping the females in a tight sexual embrace called amplexus.
if females are sexually mature you can also see eggs on the underside of their belly. they look like little black blotches.
males will also have dark loose throat sac's aswell, this is if they have croaked before.
females can sometimes be bigger then males, but this is a very unreliable sex indication.
