My Male Burmese is 7' 4" Long

What Size rabbits should I buy from Rodentpro.com ? Below are all there sizes and prices

Should I only feed 1 rabbit a month or at what space? And is there anywere else i can purchase rabbits at cheaper including shipping?

If your guy is over 7 feet and if you are unconcerned with him becoming large then you should feed him meals that are as large as he can comfortably get down. The main reason for this is because it is the most cost effective method of feeding. Depending on his age he should be able to get down even the largest rabbits on that list. What I mean by this (about age) is the added bulk factor of older individual snakes and as a result the increased ability to consume much larger prey items. For example,... perhaps a 7'4" male that is 1 year old may comfortably consume a 3 to 4 pound rabbit. And perhaps a 2 year old male the same length may comforably consume a 5 to 6 pound rabbit. Three or four years and up a male this size could undoubtedly comfortably consume a 7 to 9 pound rabbit. By "comfortably" I mean a meal that the snake can ingest in 20 to 40 minutes without obvious difficulty. Now, the reason why it is easier for an older snake to consume larger meals is due to the fact that as they age their heads lengthen and widen whether their bodies grow in length or not. Their bodies also widen and thicken, offering a much larger frame and neck to accept larger prey. Any lengthening or widening of the head is equal to a geometrically larger mouth when opened for swallowing prey.

Now, as to where you should get your rabbits,... you should be able to find rabbit breeders in your local area where you can get large rabbits for between 2 and 5 dollars each. This has been my experience here in California where I live and I would expect them to be even cheaper in other states. Check your local papers in the animal sections for rabbits for sale. Even place free wanted ads. Check feed stores for bulletin boards where business cards or "for sale" papers may be posted for rabbits for sale. Ask the feed store owners if they know of rabbit breeders. They sell rabbit food, so they'll know someone. Avoid buying rabbits from any pet stores. Pet stores have been known to spray would be pet rats and rabbits with pesticides to prevent lice and such. These toxins can be harmful to your snake. Take the above advice. I promise that you will find several rabbit breeders within 20 miles of you willing to sell their rabbits cheap. If not email me and I will share with you how to breed rabbits easily and cheaply. I breed between 60 and 70 females at any one time to sustain my python breeding colonies. It's very cheap and easy to do when done correctly.

He will be 2 years and a month Dec. 17. Is his length alright for that age and I live in PA (Pennsylvania) And will I have any probs with him switching from Large rats to Rabbits? And also will he grow pretty fast now since he will be eating rabbits? I feed frozen also

Yes,.. in my opinion one large rabbit a month should be fine for a male that size and age. But only if it is a very large rabbit. The larger the meal the more sense it makes in terms of breaking down into "per week" increments. Like an 8 pound rabbit would be tantamount to two jumbo rats per week. See how that works nicely in terms of saving a small fortune?

Are you certain he was hatched in mid December? I only ask because most burmese are hatched between April and September. (not really important though)

Anyhow,... Yes. If he is only 2 years old he will certainly grow rapidly after you get him on rabbits. More because of the simple fact that rabbits offer much more mass of food rather than any additional nutritional benefit that rabbits have over rats.

His length is fine for that age, yes. It sounds like he has been on a fine maintainence diet of maybe a rat a week? You shouldn't have any problems with him switching over to rabbits, but it does happen occasionally. However, this is not any sort of a problem. If he does not want to accept rabbits you simply turn his rabbit into a rat. With snakes 99.9% of everything is SCENT. So take a freshly killed rat and place it's mouth over the dead rabbit's nose. Make sure you thoroughly rub as much rat saliva as you can on the rabbit's nose. Then squeeze a drop of rat urine out of the rat and wipe this on the rabbit's forehead. That's all you need to do. The rat saliva would usually be enough to stimulate the snake to go nuts for it, but the rat urine clenches the deal and completes the illusion. This method of tricking the snake has never failed me yet.

That date is estimated im not really sure i got it from a pet store and the guy who owns 18 pythons said that it was around then not really possitive it might have been sept.17

and is one rabbit a month good ? and i will keep you posted
