New FL pine photos

vvvddd Dec 07, 2003 01:00 PM

Here are a few new photos what has become my favorite snake. I think Billy wanted to see whese a few weeks ago but I never got around to it. He's about 30-36 inches now and pounding small rats and adult mice. Hopefully I'll be able to pump up his growth this spring and get him to 4 or 5 feet by May.

He's still flighty but a little work got him to sit still for this photo.

very dark head for a Fl Pine...nice looking snake you have there.

We approximate him to be an '02 hatch, rescued from the center of a subdivision. He was about 16 inches at the time.

Very nice snake bro! I love the dirty colors of the neck area and the chocolate patterns on his tail.

Thanks for posting!

I left this snake in a friend's care over the summer since I was away conducting research. When I left, only the very last blotches on the tail were turning brownish-red. By the time I got back he basically looked like this. I haven't had the time to really grow him much and he's only shed twice since August but I have a feeling that the chocolate color is going to continue to spread north to his neck/head region. We'll see anyway!

I remember seeing some pics you had posted months ago when you first got that guy. It may have been on a different forum.

This was taken in early April, about 3 weeks after he was captured. The blood on the paper is from a rodent. That rear third really has lightened up a bunch!
