In the market for a leopard?

skits Dec 07, 2003 02:24 PM

Hey all i was just wondering what the personality of everyone's leopard is like? Rock with legs, or active? I've been in the market for a leopard, but i was wondering how active they are. Thanks for the info.

Leopard geckos vary by the individual. I have four leopard geckos right now and they are each different. Two of my geckos are extremely active. Leopard geckos are nocturnal, therefore you don't see them when they are at the peak of their activity. However, leopard geckos can become hand tame. I make an attempt to handle each gecko at least once a week. They become much more active when they are outside their cage. As I was saying earlier, two of my geckos never hide. They continually pace the cage. My two blizzards were recently acquired from a dealer, but aren't very active. They hide and sleep all day. It may just be an assumption, but the more the geckos are handled has affected their activity in my case. I have owned numerous reptiles in the past, but the leopard geckos are one of the neatest creatures I have owned. I hope you find this at all useful. Good luck with whatever animal you choose!

hi

i agree with coffey about leos being more active when they're out of their cage. my leo can be really lazy sometimes and just walk around to explore, eat, drink, and switch hides for a couple of hours - but, when she's out of the cage - she gets excited and crawls around all over the place !!! i handle her for about 15 - 20 minutes every other night... she loves to crawl up my arm and just perch on my shoulder (sometimes switching sides). it's really cute then when you plop her back in, he walks the glass of the cage and tries to go around... after she figures she can't - she crawls on her hides and her mini-log and rests because she used up so much energy.

but then again, leo personalities really do vary by the individual. some other people's leos are more active than mine, while i hear of others that are a lot more lazy than mine :x hehe~ these leos are nocturnal, so you really won't see them until night time or the early morning. take care and i hope you find the right leo for you!
