Crested got all dried up!!!! HELP.....

Opha Dec 07, 2003 04:39 PM

i have a very young fire morph crested. went out of town for a few days, and i came back and he's all dehydratied and has sunken in eyes. i have him in a small 5 gall with paper towel substate. Someone opened my door to my room and had the dehumidifier on full blast. all of my cages are dried up, but the other animals are not effected. this lil tike is in bad shape, and i need to get him going agian ASAP. the cage is usually misted once or twice a day, but i've been busy and then had to leave. come back and the poor guy is just laying on the ground and in no good condition. I keep thinking about pedealite, but not sure what would be the best way to administer it to him to get him going again. i misted the cage down heaviliy and have him sitting on the paper towels ( wet now ). any ideas will help.

I'm assuming the poor little guy had drinking water while you were gone. If not, I'm surprised he's still alive.

If I were you, I'd try the pedialyte (why not?) and keep him on damp papertowels for the next several days. You may need to squirt the pedialyte into his mouth with an eyedropper or syringe (without needle) if he's completely listless.
