Dont try to make excuses or lie to her, be honest with yourself, are you ready for them? From your post your not. Wait until nobody is telling you what you can or cant have and you can afford them and their care on your own.

Why do you need excuses to get them? Why would you need to lie to get them? If you can afford them then why ask?
The point is you obviously dont understand that if you need your mothers permission, etc etc then you should wait until you dont need her permission IE; when you are old enough to buy them support them and yourself, then no excuses are needed. And by then as noted by someone else its no longer an impulse thing, and you can learn about monitors and their needs before you get them.
Are you sure you're ready? I mean, it almost sounds kind of impulse-like: I want a monitor and I don't care which one as long as it IS one!
About the mice, though: What are the chances that you could get a mouse-feeding monitor and just hide the mice from the view of people? I'm not saying lying and sneak, I'm saying keep them in a paper bag and feed your lizard out of the sight of people.
I live around people who hate seeing mice get eatten. I just won't let them see the mice and feed it (In this case, my tegu) out of sight. They know I'm doing it, but I guess they don't care as long as they don't see.
