I'm using 3 Phillips 40 watt CF bulbs with a color of 3500K and rated at 3350 Lumens. I have not noticed any adverse growth patterns to using the lower kelvin bulb (cool white range color) . . . in fact, my bromeliads have exceptional color and grow very well under this light. I do, however, have a 2 x 13 watt 5000K setup that I will be using in my vent setup (and I might increase the setup to a 3-bulb hood).
