Outdoor birdcage for a protected sunning spot

shopaholic Dec 08, 2003 02:20 AM

Hi gang: I have a used stainless Steel outdoor bird cage that i wondered if I might be able to use as a sunning cage for chams. Of course, I'd sterilize it and outfit it to the chams desires. Just wondered if the structure could be used for a safe trip outside. It is 16x22x30h, zoo quality, already has 4 manzanita branches, grated bottom with a pull out tray and 4 built in feeding cups. The cham wouldn't live in it, it would just be something for sunning safely in. And if so, what do you think I have to do to sterilize it, and outfit it correctly? Thanks-Maggie

I used a large birdcage at first too but I found that my feeders would run rampant through the holes. I thought about using screening on the insise to keep the feeders in but, when i tested screening on one side, it looked really ugly and cheesy. I decided to make my own outside enclosure using John's design on his page:

It was relatively easy and inexpensive and it looked great when I finished it.
