HELP!! how can my female veiled be pregnant again?!?!?

doozer Dec 08, 2003 06:32 AM

i noticed her restless behavior recently and now i can see her bulging with eggs. strange thing is, she layed eggs 8 months ago which just hatched this weekend. the male hasnt been introduced since. ive heard of females becoming egg bound with infertile eggs but i thought that happened if you didnt breed them....whats going on here?

She'll develope eggs regardless if you breed her or not. They may or may not be fertile. Females can retain sperm and lay another clutch of viable eggs. In any event, provide her with a good digging bin. Do not throw the eggs out until they good bad. Theres still a chance you can have babies.

wow...thats very interesting. now what signs can i expect to see with the eggs if they are infertile....do they rot quickly or is it going to be another 8 months of anticipation?!?

Infertile eggs will usually go bad in about 2 weeks. They'll turn yellowish, then brownish then brown. Sometimes takes a little bit longer. Just act like they're fertile up until then. If you're lucky, they won't go bad (even though 8 months is a long time to store sperm).
