I have read that you can feed beardies dandelions but have never tried it before. Now that I have a ton of them growing in my yard, can I just pop the tops off, rinse them off, and feed them to my beardie?

Mine love them!!!! They eat stem an all. It is really cute to see their reaction to them
Mine like ustard flowers but I haven't tried dandelions yet.
Good idea that I've heard about but never tried.
Thanks,
Karen
Bearded dragons can eat both the leaves and flowers of dandelions. However before you feed the dandelions from your yard to your beardie make absolutely sure no insectocides or weed killer has been used on your yard..also check and see if your neighbours use them as the wind can blow some over into your yard. As plants can absorb these poisons, rinsing them off won't remove the poison. If you are not sure about your neighbours I would only pick from the middle of your lawn and wash them really good.
You should be able to buy dandelion greens at your supermarket though. You also can grow your own indoors..dandelions probably only need alot of sun to grow.

The whole flower, and leaves. I actually have to get a pic of the dandelion plant this week for someone on the iguana forum, but my green iguanas, cyclura, skink and leo tort all enjoy them. I do wash them in cool water before feeding and pic fresh daily. If i didnt have soo many animals eatting, i could get away with not buying greens at all in summer.
Just be sure that you do not use fertilizer or any chemicals on the lawn and have not for several years.

Thanks everyone. I tried them. He ate one and ignored the rest. Doesn't seem to care for them. Oh well, another item he won't eat.
So far he won't eat strawberries, apples, dandelions, mealworms, or bananas.
