I finally acquired a female that was large and was pretty enough to breed with this guy. The goal, to reproduce this color and create a lineage. He is a monster too (7-1/2', ~14lbs).

I'm 98% sure that that's a cross. Maybe he'll do a scale count and prove me wrong. LMAO!!!!

I have little doubt that it is a hybrid based on color and the fact that its huge. Typically, I am not a big fan of crosses. However, in this case, it is a very unique animal. I have no problem saying that its at least 75% diamond, 25% jungle.
...How can you say it is a 75% Diamond cross? I would have no problem saying it too but that doesn't mean it is. It could be a 50/50 that has high diamond influence. Not to be the Devil's advocate here but if a person doesn't know the lineage of a particular snake, can you really just begin to assume?

I agree that without doing a DNA analysis there is no way to tell 100%. However, aside from the fact that I know the guy who produced him, I have seen hundreds of "pure" jungles and hybrids as well as a few pure diamonds. (Personally, I am of the opinion that many of the "pure" jungles are hybrids as well.)
So based on my past experience, the traits that lead me to this conclusion have nothing to do with color. For one, if you felt the texture of the scales (they are almost velvety), considered the girth and size (7-1/2', 14lbs) and looked at the head of the animal, without the color pattern, you would swear it was a diamond. In situations where one trait is dominant, it could be either/or. However, because multiple traits are "diamond-like", I would assume that this is the case. Like I said, its purely an educated guess.
I forgot to reply to the second half of the question. The IJ and Coastal are holdbacks from previous projects. Currently, I do not have plans to cross them.
I have a female that looks exactly like that male. My female is HUGE as well, I will post a pic of her later. Mine is said to be from "Pure" blood from people that are as reputable as it gets in this hobby. So I wouldn't be to quick to call it a DXJ cross, but I may be in the minority on that one.
I would love to see pics of her.
I have a friend that could run a DNA on him to be sure. Would be interesting....
I think your animal is a special case. I said I was 98% sure his was a cross. Your snake would fall into that other 2%.

For some reason I can't find pics to save my life of that snake...I will get some asap.
asome snake but it looks like a cross!?!?!?
