WIch is the coolest and WHY ?!

nimdu Dec 08, 2003 09:45 AM

I am possibly going to extend my collection to a Boid of some sort...now i was wondering in order to make a good choice i was wonderingg wich do YOU prefer and WHY between pythons and Boas... what are the main differences that motivated YOUR choice ? Now i know i'm in the Python section so your all hooked on them , but i just wanna know the reasons you pic your specie , or what specie is the coolest and why...i tend to find ball pythons interesting cause not too big , altough i don't really care about size...and i kinda find their heads ugly a bit....i've heard burmese to be too aggressive and too big...so what's the deal ?!

Carpets have got to be some of the coolest of all boids. They're fairly active, easy to care for, great feeders, beautiful, and usually docile. Also, it's tough to find a snake with a better looking head than a carpet.

I would suggest if you are just getting into the larger species to start with a carpet though. The Papuans, Retics, Burmese are large species that command respect and may require two people to handle down the road. Carpets get to be a nice mid sized species that you can handle by yourself but will be larger than a Ball python. And as Jake said even the least attractive carpet python is a beautiful animal to behold. Here is a Little Jungle Carpet Python that I used to have.

I just love em. They have a neat pattern, dont get excessively long but still become a pretty big snake. You dont have to worry about them crawling off when your handling then and there tons of fun! Love the color variations too. I used to have a JCP and it was a nice snake too just not my fancy. Check out the different boards if you want to learn specifics on the different types and dont be afraid to post on there if you have some questions about them.
