BP retained shed....need help!

JLJ2018 Dec 08, 2003 02:57 PM

I'm sure others have had probs with this so I searched the forums but couldn't find what I needed. Perhaps I just didn't search the right way. Either way, I'm in need of some help.

My BP shed...or tried to shed I should say...a few days ago. He got all of the head off, but the rest is still there. So I did what I've always done with all my snakes. Stuck him in a warm bath and let him swim around. Picked him up expecting to roll the skin off like I always have, but it's STUCK! Right behind the head it's like glue. I can tell there are patches down his body that are loose and ready to come off, but just can't seem to get it started. Feel sorry for the guy, he's been so patient with me picking at his head area trying to get his skin started...never hissed, jerked, or struck.

Any help?

make sure your temps are in good range and I would suggest soaking him twice daily and it should eventually correct it's self b/c it just happened to me I added a large tupperware to the cage and he went on his own into it and soaked and rubbed off what was remaining.

soak him in warm water like you did but for a good 20 mins then take a hand towel and get it wet with warm water also and rub the skin off the snake not to hard but by no means gentle

thats what i do if skin sticks
hope that helps

Thanks, I'll keep trying it. Never had this much trouble with one before and I've gone through tons and tons of sheds with snakes. Appreciate the help.
