Question For People Who Know About Merc Vapor Bulbs.....

OneTwoManyHerps Dec 08, 2003 03:44 PM

I have a 2 month old merc vapor bulb 100 watt which i purchased from big apple herp. The brand is Capture the Sun (I think). Anyways like i said I've had it for 2 months and just today it has been shutting off, then turning on, shutting off and then turning on. I've used these bulbs befor and this is the first time i've seen this happen. The amount of time between the off/on phase is only like one or two minutes. THANKS

I think the bulbs are supposed to turn off automatically if they start to overheat. It doesn't sound like it would have been on long enough to overheat, but maybe it's malfuntioning? I'd probably return it to the company...

I have several MV bulbs and they do act wierd if shutoff and then turned right back on. They will delay or sometimes flicker before they stay on. I am no expert on this but I have heard that this is normal and has something to do with the design.

Hope this helps...
