hiding pictus

I adopted a madagascan ground gecko about six months ago. And i swear she hides almost 100% of the time. She basically only comes out if there is foo din the tank. Other than that she is always hiding. I actually have to remove her hide every few days just to see if she is still alive sometimes! I know they are a secretive species, but is hiding THAT much normal? Thanks ahead of time

Yes. I just got a desert banded gecko (coleonyx variegatus) and the thing just hides all day.....and most of the night. Today I took its log out and put one of those magnetic hideaway things (didnt like it btw...looks crappy, took it out) and it just ran away from me. Funny thing is I moved it, and seconds later it ate a cricket nearby. I dont think they stress very easily cause it just trotted along like it aint no thang that a giant hand just poked you. I have a feeling that most small desert geckos are adept to hiding in cracks etc....Ive been noticing this with many species we have at work. Seems that just about all small ground geckos actually hide most of the time. Fun to watch when they're not though.
