cribo notes

bigj Dec 08, 2003 05:54 PM

i just wanted to share a few notes ive made on the differences in personality and behavior of my three cribs. my 2 captive bred black tails show little desire to escape and are very willing captives, they will eat from tongs or directly from your hand if your brave enough , ive dont it with a glove but didnt need a glove, they know the difference between a mouse and a hand it seems, im not sure i would do it with the pieces of chicken i feed them as well because those resemble human flesh more than a fuzzy white mouse my unicolor male on the other hand is a character, he wants out of every cage hes in, ive been forced to keep him in a rack in a 48qt. he pulled a scale completely off of his face ( very first large scale) getting out of a 55 gallon with a screen lid. he will not eat while you are watching him, but the minuet you leave the room he'll eat. he wont bite and doesent musk or even tail rattle. from that info i would guess he is a wild caught which i had doubted at first because of his laid back temperment and complete lack of any kind of scar, nik or abrasion ( untill now that is) which is very common in W/C animal. both sub species are incredibly powerfull snakes, whcih happens to be a trait of one of my other favorite genus's pituophis. these are just a few things ive noticed that i thought i would share, i will post pics of the face of my unicolor as i would like to know the name of the scale he has "removed", you know how it goes.. move to california from the midwest and you have to get a nose job
