watering a beardie

aligoonbaba Dec 08, 2003 06:49 PM

Whats going on eveyone ?! I know most beardies don't drink still water from a dish. How do I make it move, so that Gouda will drink it. I dont want to do manual watering, i do now, but it's not that i'm lazy. Simply because I want it available for whenever Gouda wants it. Any ideas?

Well, you can drip water on the surface of a dish, that's how I get all my adults to drink and even the babies. You only have to do it for a while (mine only tooke like 2 days to learn how). Hope that helps.

Bearded dragons are desert animals. There really isn't a lot of standing water in the desert climates. This is why they eat leafy green vegetables. If they are eating a sufficient amount of vegetables you shouldn't need a water dish. A water dish in the enclosure will only serve to raise the humidity. If you are worried that your dragon is not getting enough moisture, spray your vegetables down so when they eat them they also get water.

I have heard (but not tried) That if you put a hamster bottle in the cage and put ice on top of it so it melts and drips off the end for awhile they will learn that when they want water all they have to do is lick the end. I don't know if it will work but I mean it sounds logical to me.
Good Luck!
