I have a cordless waterfall in there and i just recently put a house geckop in there. My frog is still brown and all he does is hide on the glass behind a plant. Are they supposed to be lazy. Hi there - re your problem - first - what is a hose geckop ?

More importantly - what is the temparature and humidity in your tank. In my experience (3 years with 7 White's Green Tree Frogs) they will go a brown colour when it's cold for extended periods of time - prior to this they go speckldy with lighter green speckles on their usual bright shiney green skin. The temparature being too low would also cause the lethargy you've mentioned.

WGTF's like a nightime minimum of no less than 20C deg (68F) and can endure a maximum of 40 C deg (104F). I keep my friends at between 23C and 35C.

hope this helps

There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more.

So are you saying the Gecko is in the same enclosure with the frog ?

Could this be the problem - does anyone else have a lizard in with a frog ? - It would not be my first choice.

I have even had trouble with certain frog species in the same enclosure - with the unfortunate pair stressing to death within a few weeks.

Even if others have a gecco in their tank I would at least try removing it for a while as THIS PARTICULAR FROG may have a problem with them.

Take the gecko out and keep it out. Find a new enclosure and keep the two seperate. Mixing different species is a definate no, especially for novices. Invest in temp and humidy gauges, put them in the tank, take a reading, then come back and tell us what the humidity and temps in the tank are. Is this an American Green Tree frog (Hyla cinerea), or are you an Aussie speaking of a Whites (Litoria caerulea)? I'll give you a link to go to either way, go, check it out and compare it to your current set up. Fix whatever may be wrong, then if the frog doesnt come around come back. BUT remember that some frogs stay brown most of the time and live normal lives. But you must remove the Gecko.

I meant House Gecko And about the white green tree frods is that the same as my green tree frogs. It has the stripe down the side and on the bottom hes green. On top brown. My temps are 74 at night and 80-85 day. I do have humidity at about 70-80%. Hope that helps.
