Sick Leopard Gecko...HELP!

yellowcreekdan Dec 08, 2003 08:53 PM

Hi,
I need your help. I am fairly experienced with leopard geckos, and dont understand why mine is sick. Recently, my leopard gecko(approx. 4 months) stopped feeding with her usual vigor. Last night she could not shed on her own, rather she just layed there. I was very shocked when she still had her skin on this morning. I soaked her in water and peeled off the skin. Upon further inspection, I noticed when she was walking on my arm, she wouldn't lift her body up off the ground, rather just crawled around. I am very worried about her, and would be greatly in debted to anyone who could give me some advice on how to treat her. I checked her tank, and the heat is working fine and everything else is accounted for.
Thank you so much,
Justin

ive heard of it but i just cant think of what it is right off hand. Do you have a local vet or a vet that you can take it to because if you ask me that would be your best bet. hope that your gecko gets better.

what do you have for a substrate?
have you had a stool sample to a vet to test for parasites?

sounds to me like something is draining her...
good luck!

i would say that repti bark wouldnt be the best for a leopard gecko from the desert but it would do, do you feed him/her in a seperate cage or in the same cage with the repti bark because if it swallowed a piece of bark which might not be too good for it.

Do you give it enough calcium. Sometimes the lose energy and have trouble with their bones and walking when they are low on calcium. Its called MBD Metobolic Bone Disease.

Without seeing her first hand, it is hard to diagnose what is happening. The only geckos I have ever seen crawl without lifting the body had MBD. Get her to a vet, NOW!. If you catch MBD quick enough you can help her.
